Group Grief Therapy

You Don't Have to Grieve Alone

Hands holding a flower

Cornerstone Counseling & Education is partnering with local funeral homes to provide grief support groups across the valley for individuals and families experiencing loss. Led by experienced, licensed therapists, these gatherings provide a safe, supportive environment to share, process emotions, and learn healthy coping strategies alongside others who understand the journey of grief. Whether recently bereaved or still navigating long-term loss, participants will find connection, comfort, and practical tools for healing. These groups are open to all and designed to help you find community and resilience during a difficult season of life. For more information or to register, contact Cornerstone Counseling today.

About the Group

This grief counseling group is a revolving, open-entry group, meaning participants may join at any point once they complete a brief individual intake with the group facilitator, Rosemary Smith.

  • Weekly group meetings (1-1.5 hours each)
  • Two locations (Wood Funeral Home in Ammon and Cornerstone Counseling in Rexburg)
  • Each group cycle runs 12-15 weeks
  • Participants may begin at any time during a cycle
  • Therapist-led group counseling grounded in clinical best practice

What to Expect

Each session provides a balance of:

  • Guided discussion and reflection
  • Psychoeducation about the grief process
  • Gentle structure and themed topics
  • Connection with others who understand loss
  • Practical tools for coping, meaning-making, and resilience

While each session has a focus, participants are not required to have attended previous sessions to benefit. The revolving format allows for flexibility while maintaining therapeutic depth.

  • The journal is required for participation
  • It will be purchased separately prior to your first group session
